By the end of week two, I did something I hadn't done in years: I showered only once a day.
Not because I was being gross.
Because I didn't need three showers anymore.
One shower in the morning, regular deodorant application, and I stayed fresh all day.
The thigh crease odor that used to require multiple applications of gel deodorant? I applied once in the morning and that was it.
No reapplication needed. No smell returning within hours.
The armpit odor that had persisted despite scrubbing until my skin was raw? It was maybe 10% of what it had been. I could use regular deodorant instead of clinical strength.
My boyfriend noticed. "You seem more relaxed lately," he said.
"I'm not obsessing about smell anymore," I admitted. "I'm not constantly checking myself or panicking about odor."
By week three, I stopped using gel deodorant on my intimate areas entirely.
I didn't need it. The odor that had required constant topical treatment was gone because I'd addressed the internal source.
I could wear whatever I wanted without worrying about whether fabric would trap smell. I could go to the gym without planning a shower immediately after.
I could be intimate with my boyfriend without the quick wash-up beforehand that I'd always needed.
The cycles were broken.
The odor wasn't coming back.
Old morning routine:
- Apply clinical-strength deodorant
- Wait for it to dry
- Apply again "just to be sure"
- Body spray
- Check smell
- Breath mints
- Pack emergency supplies (deodorant, mints, breath spray)
- Mental calculation of bathroom breaks needed during the day
Total time: 20+ minutes of anxiety-driven preparation
New morning routine:
- Take one Refresh capsule with water while coffee brews
- Apply light deodorant once (more out of habit and for fragrance than a need)
Total time: 2 minutes, zero anxiety
The difference wasn't just time.
It was mental energy.
I wasn't constantly thinking about odor anymore. I wasn't planning my day around bathroom breaks to reapply products. I wasn't worried about hugs, close conversations, or someone leaning in near me.
Coworkers started interacting with me differently. Closer conversations. More engagement.
One colleague even asked me to grab coffee after work, something that had never happened before.
