I was back at the dentist again, this time for my regular six-month cleaning. I was in the waiting area after my appointment when one of the dental nurses approached me.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" she asked quietly, glancing around. "I don't usually do this, but I overheard you talking to the dentist about your breath issues."
I felt my face turn red. Even the staff knew about my problem.
"I just wanted to tell you.. off the record.. that I've had several patients come back after months or years of struggling with the same thing you're dealing with.
And they all solved it, but not with dental treatments."
I looked at her, confused. "What do you mean?"
She lowered her voice.
"The problem isn't in your mouth. It's in your gut.
The dentist can't tell you this because it's not really his area, but I've seen it too many times to ignore."
"My gut?" I repeated.
"How does my gut affect my breath?"
"Your gut has tons of bacteria in it," she explained.
"When it's out of balance, too much bad bacteria, too many toxins building up.. your body can't filter everything properly.
So it comes out through your breath. And usually through your skin too, but people don't always notice that part as much."
I thought about it.
I did have some body odor issues, but I just figured everyone dealt with that. I used deodorant multiple times a day, just like I used breath spray.
"What did your patients do?" I asked.
"They started taking certain natural ingredients daily. Things like chlorophyll, which works like an internal deodorizer. Peppermint and parsley for freshening. And zinc to help regulate the bacterial balance.
But there's a secret, if it has activated charcoal, it'll help bind to the toxins and bacteria." She paused.
"The ones who found products with all of those ingredients together? They said their breath went from constantly bad to completely fresh within a few weeks. Some even stopped having body odor too."
She handed me a small piece of paper with some ingredients written on it. "Look into it.
I'm not supposed to recommend anything specific, but do your research. I've seen too many people suffer when there's actually a solution."
